Connect Instagram officially

What you'll need

• An Instagram account

  Any account works, even a brand-new one.

• A Facebook account

  Used once to create the linked Page, you probably already have one.

• The Instagram app on your phone

  The switch to a Business account happens in the app.

The setup, step by step

   Switch to an Instagram Business account

   Quick to do, and your profile looks exactly the same to your followers.

      Open the Instagram app

      Tap your profile picture in the bottom right to open your profile.

      Open settings

      Tap the menu in the top right, then tap "Settings and privacy".

      Find your account type

      Scroll down and tap "Account type and tools".

      Switch to professional

      Tap "Switch to professional account", pick a category (for example "Creator" or "Public Figure"), then select "Business".

   Create a Facebook Page (kept hidden)

   Instagram Business accounts must be linked to a Facebook Page. Yours can stay completely invisible, step 2.6 shows how.

      Back in the Instagram app

      Go to Settings → "Account type and tools" → "Switch to professional account", you will see an option to "Connect to Facebook".

      Create a Page

      When prompted, tap "Create a new Facebook Page", give it any name (your Instagram username works), and pick a category.

      Link it to Instagram

      The app links your Instagram Business account to the new Page automatically.

      Open Facebook

      Go to facebook.com or open the Facebook app and log in.

      Find your new Page

      Open the menu → "Pages" → select the Page you just created.

      Important

      Hide the Page from the public

      On the Page, go to Settings → "Page visibility" → toggle "Page unpublished" to ON. The Page is now invisible to everyone except you.

   Connect to SoReachMe

   The last step happens on your SoReachMe profile.

      Open your SoReachMe profile

      Click "Connect Instagram" in the Platform Connections section.

      Choose "Connect officially"

      Click "Connect with Instagram" in the recommended section of the modal.

      Log in and authorize

      Log in with Facebook, select your hidden Page, and grant the permissions. SoReachMe only reads your Instagram Business data, it never posts anything.
